Seven-year-old dies after falling into open sewer

Ludhiana: A seven-year-old boy died after he fell into an open gutter near the Grand Trunk road in Ludhiana on Sunday, police said.

A case of negligence has been registered against local civic authorities and private company engaged in road construction at the Grand Trunk road stretch, where the sewer was located, after residents blocked the traffic, they said.

The child was riding on a scooter with his parents when he accidentally fell into the sewer. The body was recovered nearly 2 km from the spot where he had fallen, they said.
