Budget session in AP from Feb. 17

Hyderabad, Jan. 29: The crucial AP Assembly Budget Session will begin on February 17. According to sources, the Governor, Mr E.S.L. Narasimhan, will address the joint sitting of the Assembly and Legislative Council on that day. The sessions are likely to continue till March end. As per conventions, a minimum of 30 clear working days are needed to complete the business related to Budget. Presentation of state Budget for the year 2011-12 will be done by the finance minister, Mr Anam Ramnarayana Reddy, between February 21 and 24. The first major political challenge for the Chief Minister, Mr N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, will be to conduct the Budget Session in a surcharged political atmosphere in the state on account of the Telangana demand and other issues like corruption. The Telugu Desam is bound to utilise the session to raise several issues concerning the people and may also demand the reopening of Paritala Ravi murder case to probe Mr Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddys role among others. The group of MLAs backing former MP, Mr Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, will also try to corner the government by raising public issues and non-implementation of schemes introduced by late YSR government. The sessions are likely to be stormy as both the TRS and the BJP are bound to create a pandemonium in the house on T issue. It would also be difficult for the CM since the Congress is divided on regional lines to put up a united fight.
