Madurai: 1 killed, 35 others injured in Jallikattu
Madurai: Tamil Nadu's taming the bull festival, Jallikattu, claimed its first victim of the year today.
A 29-year-old man was gored to death at an event held at Palamedu in Madurai district, as part of the Pongal celebrations. 36 others were also injured.
There was around 30 per cent drop in the number of bulls that participated, following tough conditions by the Supreme Court. However the cruelty to bulls continues.
